Two weeks of International Winter Sports Competition. 11-day International Festival and Competition with ceremonies, music, culture & food. The Winter World University Games is the largest winter multi-sport collegiate athletic event in the world.

Winter Birding Weekend
January 28/29th 2023
Join Adirondack Avian Guide, Joan Collins for Winter Birding adventures in the Adirondacks. Two days to explore the Long Lake region and spot and listen for the birds! Mike Norris Fishing Derby:
The Mike Norris Ice Fishing Derby happens every year in Raquette Lake on the last Saturday of January. Fish for Lake Trout, Brook Trout, Perch and Salmon. Registration begins at 6am at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall. Cash Prizes, Plaques for Winners. Sponsored by the Raquette Lake Fish and Game Club.
Description:First Line in at 7:00am, Last Line out at 3:00pm.
Final weigh-in’s well be concluded by 3:30pm.
We will be establishing a virtual pre-registration link for participants to purchase tickets in advance for both Adults & Juniors.

Raquette Lake Winter Carnival
Raquette Lake is the place to be on Presidents Day weekend with a weekend of winter events. Youth activities start at 11am include plenty of fun games. Ladies Frying Pan Toss at Noon and Ice Golf at 2pm and bonfire all day. 2 p.m. Fireworks on Saturday night at dusk! On Sunday at noon, it’s the Timed Cross-cut and chainsaw competition. Pick up a 2023 Winter Bingo playing card at any area business in Long Lake or Raquette Lake. Get a Bingo and win prize, fill out the whole card and you’re eligible for the final prize drawing. Activities include attending events, Winter Carnivals, eating out, x-c skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, ice fishing and there’s alway the Free spot for users to pick their own favorite activity as long as it’s in Long Lake or Raquette Lake.

Restaurant Week
Long Lake and Raquette Lake. The five eateries taking part are the Raquette Lake Tap Room, The Long View Lodge, the Long Lake Diner/Owl’s Head Pub, the Adirondack Hotel, and the Adk Trading Post. Eat at each restaurant in Long Lake and Raquette Lake from Friday February 17th to Friday February 26th. Anyone who completes the whole punch card can submit it to the Parks & Recreation Department to be entered into a drawing for a grand prize, as well as two consolation prizes. Winter Survivor Scavenger Contest
1pm. Mt Sabattis Recreation Area. Contestants will complete a set of tasks and scavenger hunt around Mt Sabattis for points towards the Survivor’s Shield. Tasks will range from basic first aid skills in nature, problem solving, rudimentary engineering and athletic coordination. This event is open to ages 9 and over, and under 9 with an accompanying adult or babysitter. Free to enter, prizes in multiple categories, and most importantly bragging rights are up for grabs. Nordic (XC) Ski Tour
10am. Meet at the LLCS Parking Lot at 10am to depart for a Nordic (XC) Tour to Upper Sargent Pond. This is an intermediate ski with a round trip total of about 2.5 miles. Following the ski rendezvous at the Adirondack Hotel for hot cocoa.

Dinner & A Movie – Maverick —
On Friday, February 20th, at 6:30pm Dinner and a Movie arrives at the Long Lake Diner/Owls Head Pub, 1161 Main Street Long Lake. “Maverick, Top Gun 2” features Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell who returns after 30 years as one of the Navy’s top aviators. Maverick pushes the envelope as a courageous test pilot. Maverick is tasked to train a detachment of graduates for a special assignment, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who choose to fly it. Everyone is encouraged to come out early and enjoy a meal while enjoying this fast-paced reboot of Top Gun.
