The Town of Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department, with support from the Long Lake Fire Department and the Long Lake Rescue Squad, presents the “Feeling Long Lakey Polar Bear Plunge” to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at noon. The event launches from the Long Lake Town Beach, 1258 Main Street, Long Lake, NY.

All fundraising supports Wounded Warrior Project programs and services, which are offered at no cost to warriors and their families. Community efforts through the Polar Bear Plunge directly help provide access to mental and physical health care, employment resources, and education services for veterans.

Registration will take place at the Adirondack Hotel from 10:30am to 11:30am on December 27, with the plunge beginning at noon at the Town Beach. The Long Lake Fire Department will be on hand to cut the ice and manage safety. The Long Lake Rescue Squad will be on standby in case of emergency.

Plungers will be eligible for prizes including Best Costume, Most Money Raised by an Individual, Most Money Raised by a Team, and Best Plunge Technique.

Participants should bring towels, robes, warm clothing, a plastic bag for wet stuff and must wear shoes. A heated public restroom will be open at the beach, and participants will have access to a warm indoor space for changing before and after the plunge.

Also on December 27, the Town of Long Lake hosts Souper Saturday. Local chefs will serve creative soups, stews, and chilis, with four-ounce samples available for $3 at participating Long Lake restaurants. Stops include the ADK Trading Post, Adirondack Hotel, Brookside Hops & Hoagies, Long Lake Diner & Owl’s Head Pub, Long View Lodge, Waypoint Café, and Stewart’s Shops.
