The Long Lake American Legion Post #650 will host the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26, 2025, in Long Lake, NY.
The parade will step off promptly at 8:30 a.m. from the Long Lake Town Hall, located at 1204 Main Street. The Honor Guard will lead the procession along Main Street (NY Route 30) to the Long Lake Bridge for a remembrance ceremony honoring those lost at sea.
The parade will return to the Doughboy Monument and Town Hall before continuing at approximately 9:00 a.m. to the Long Lake Cemetery for a memorial ceremony. The event will continue at the Vietnam Memorial located at the intersection of South Hill Road and Deerland Road and back to the Long Lake Town Hall.
This year’s Memorial Day Guest Speaker is Mr. Richard Lamporte, Captain, U.S. Navy (Ret.). Mr. Lamporte enlisted in the U.S. Navy and earned his commission as an Ensign, eventually rising through the ranks to the rank of Captain. A member of American Legion Post #650 for the past five years, Mr. Lamporte has been a resident of Long Lake for 24 years. His distinguished military career and continued service to the community exemplify the spirit of Memorial Day and the values we honor.
In addition to the parade, the American Legion Post #650 is proud to announce the installation of 56 Veterans Banners throughout Long Lake. Spearheaded by Post Commander Rod Begin, the banners honor local veterans who served in conflicts from the War of 1812, Civil War, World Wars I and II, Korea, and Vietnam, to modern-day service. Several banners recognize Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart recipients.
All are welcome to attend and pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed.
