24 HOUR Closure planned on State Route 28N in the Town of Long Lake, Hamilton County

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that State Route 28N will be closed from Fishing Brook Road to Parking Area Road, in the Town of Long Lake, Hamilton County, starting at 6 a.m.,Thursday, August 17. The closure is expected to last approximately 24 hours and is necessary to facilitate the relocation of a temporary bridge over Fishing Brook to a new alignment, clearing the way for a new bridge to be constructed at the original location.

Motorists will be directed to follow a signed detour utilizing State Route 28N to State Route 28 in North Creek to 28N in Blue Mountain Lake continuing to Long Lake.  Variable message signs will notify motorists of work.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
