Long Lake Local Updates

THE Town of Long Lake is Open. Plenty of summer left to enjoy and it’s time to pack your bags and come on up! So we have a few adjustments to make, but everything is temporary and we are open and look forward to seeing you.

Route 28N – Long Lake to Newcomb Road is closed to all THRU traffic to Newcomb. 28N to Newcomb is closed until Fishing Brook Bridge is repaired.

  • Please stay out of the construction zone unless during specified transfer station hours.
  • Long Lake East Residents along on the Newcomb Rd, Tarbell Hill Rd, Jim Bird Rd, Eagle Bay Way, McIntrye Blvd area may travel along the route 28N corridor to town as needed, but the NYS DOT asks that you limit trips through the work area on 28N as much as possible.
  • Please work together with neighbors, family, and friends to reduce the number of trips to the transfer station needed.
  • Stop the Gawk. Sight-seeing traffic is strongly discouraged as it presents a significant safety risk and slows work.

TRANSFER STATION SPECIAL HOURS – located on Newcomb Rd/28N Long Lake, NY. People with transfer station stickers may travel along the route 28N corridor during regular transfer station hours. Residents in the impacted route 28N construction zone may travel as needed.

There are currently multiple avenues to support our community members who have been impacted by this event.

  • Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) Fund
    https://adf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=1055
The SUN Fund makes funds available to the Central Adirondack communities of Long Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, and Indian Lake for 2023 Flash Flooding Relief. Please specify “Central Adirondacks flooding” in the Special Instructions text box.*** If you’d like to designated a specific community where you’d like your funds to be distributed, please make a note on your donation.
  • Bruce & Nadine Jennings Go Fund Me
    https://gofund.me/c0553613
Bruce and Nadine remain marooned at their home, cut off from the rest of the community as their driveway access to route 28N is cut-off. The storm and flash flood completely wiped out the culvert, bridge, and a good section of their driveway. There will be a long road to recovery for them, and many expenses associated with the extensive repairs that are needed.
  • Val Galvagni Go Fund Me
    https://gofund.me/5348a39b
Val’s Long Lake home has been severely, maybe irrevocably damaged by flooding and mud. It will be days and weeks until the damage can be properly assessed, but suffice it to say her home is no longer livable.
