map of trails

March 10 – March 17, 2023

All Nordic ski trails should be skiing well and have good coverage. Expect trails to need to be broken out again after an upcoming snow event from Monday to Wednesday.

Almost all local trails and truck roads have been broken out, including Cedarlands and Forked Lake Campground Rd, as well as Stony Pond Trail. Three Brook Loop is skiing well, with some large blowdown persistent but is navigable in all spots. Upper and Lower Sargent Ponds are skiing incredibly well right now, and the trail between Upper and Lower is broken out.  In Raquette Lake the Powerhouse and Cascade trails are skiing exceptionally well, and both have very limited amount of blowdown. In Newcomb, the Upper Hudson Ski Loop is skiing well with some small blowdown and will likely get broken out by the weekend.

For winter birders, a reminder that snowshoes or skis are required on all trails with over 8 inches of snow.

Snowmobiling season is in swing this weekend, check www.mylonglake.com/snowmobiling for conditions report.

The Geiger Arena and Skating Rink is open regular hours, check on Facebook or by calling 518-624-3031 for ice conditions and hours of operation.

For winter hikers, traction devices and snowshoes are required on all trails.

Remember to pack extra layers and use caution anytime, especially when winter outdoor recreating.
