In 2010 it was the return of an Adult Ice Fishing Derby staged at Lake Eaton. It was early January and it was an effort to do some hard-water fishing early in the season. With only 12 contestants, the organizers went back to the drawing board to dream up how to help the contest evolve. Eventually the contest moved on to include the waters of Long Lake as well as Lake Eaton.
The Long Lake Fish and Game Club took the contest back over and moved it to February. Over the years we’ve had a lot of choice weather and great fishing. In 2023 the Long Lake/Lake Eaton Fishing Derby happens on February 11th.
