Most Nordic trails have good coverage and are skiing well, but very fast, so caution is advised. Truck road trails have mostly been broken out, including Cedarlands and Forked Lake Campground Rd, lesser traveled trails such as Stony Pond may not be broken out. Three Brook Loop is skiing well with fast and firm conditions, some large blowdown persists but is navigable in all spots. Similar conditions are expected at Upper and Lower Sargent Ponds, as well as Powerhouse and Cascade trail in Raquette Lake.

Snowmobiling season is in swing this weekend, check www.mylonglake.com/snowmobiling for conditions report.

The Geiger Arena and Skating Rink is open regular hours, check on Facebook or by calling 518-624-3031 for ice conditions and hours of operation.

WEATHER OUTLOOK:

Expect extremely cold temperatures this weekend, with dangerously low wind chills.

For winter hikers, traction devices and snowshoes would be recommended on all trails.

Remember to pack extra layers and use caution anytime, especially when winter outdoor recreating.
