Souper Saturday

On Saturday December 30th, check out a one-of-a-kind dining event featuring the restaurants of Long Lake. Local chefs serve up their creative takes on soups, stews, and chilis. All day on Saturday, December 30th stop in any restaurant in Long Lake for a four-ounce serving of soup for $3. This event is part of the New Year’s “Feeling Long Lakey” Weekend bursting with fun and also featuring the “Feeling Long Lakey Polar Bear Plunge” happening on Saturday, December 30th at noon at the Long Lake Town Beach 1258 Main Street. Souper Saturday participating restaurants include the ADK Trading Post, Adirondack Hotel, Brookside Hops & Hoagies, Owl’s Head Pub and the Long View Lodge. Winter Birding Weekend

Join Local Birding Expert and Guide Joan Collins from Adirondack Avian Expeditions for two-days of birding tours and a special presentation open to the public. The Central Adirondacks is the place to be to spot boreal finches, White-winged Crossbills, Red Crossbills and more! Birders anticipate a terrific winter of bird viewing with flocks of White-winged Crossbills visiting from our northern Canadian neighbors. These birds like food and the summer provided plenty of cones for our feathered friends to enjoy. Bring your binoculars and winter gear to get visuals on our premiere winter visitors. Joan Collins is a certified guide with Adirondack Avian Expeditions. This event is free, but you must sign up in advance as there are limited spots. Register by calling Joan Collins at 518-624-5528. Annual Pizza & Skate Party

630pm. Geiger Arena/Mt Sabattis Recreation Area. Start out Winter Wonderland Week with a pizza party sponsored by the Town of Long Lake Parks & Rec. Department at the Geiger Arena from 630-10pm. Enjoy free skating and sledding under the stars, with a bonfire in our custom Long Lake fire pit, and pizza and hot cocoa to warm you up.

Raquette Lake Winter Carnival

1030 am Raquette Lake is the place to be on Presidents Day weekend with a full roster of winter events. Youth activities start at 11am. Look for a variety of kids games including an obstacle course, sack races, sledding and more. Ladies Frying Pan Toss at Noon and Ice Golf and bonfire all day, 2 pm Pete and Chris Magic Show at the Raquette Lake Library, free. with Fireworks at 7pm! Nordic (XC) Tour

10am. Meet at the LLCS Parking Lot at 10am to depart for a Nordic (XC) Tour to Upper Sargent Pond. This is an intermediate ski with a round trip total of about 2.5 miles. (Note: ski objective may change due to current trail conditions). Following the ski rendezvous at the Adirondack Hotel for hot cocoa. Free ski rentals available at Hoss's Country Corner. Celtic Ceilidh

Long Lake Town Hall 1204 Main Street, Long Lake, NY, United States

Come and go all day at this festive multi-faceted event at the Long Lake Town Hall on Saturday March 16th. Pronounced /kālē/, a Celtic Ceilidh is a social event involving music, storytelling, dancing and signing, and this Adirondack Celtic Ceilidh will be no different. 12-1pm: North Country Fair performs traditional Celtic music featuring guitar, bass, cittern and more. 1-230pm: "Celtic Music Session". All are welcome to bring an instrument to jam with the band and others, or just listen along. 230-4pm: Contra Dancing set to lively Celtic music from North Country Fair. All ability levels welcome and instruction will be provided for first timers. Ages 12 and up. Come to dance or just listen and watch. Refreshments available for purchase from the Long Lake Lions Club. All proceeds go to the Long Lake Lions Club and are used to fund programs in Long Lake throughout the year.
