Do you like to bring unused, second-hand garments back to a new life?

Join us and learn to sew one-of-a-kind wool messenger bags or back packs.

Did you know that wool is relatively dirt resistant and has an elegant appearance?

We work with used men suits and other second-hand wool garments and bring it back to life.

Find those garments at Goodwill or used-clothing stores or from your friends and family.

What will you learn:

By the end of this workshop you will be able to sew a messenger bag or backpack with ease.  You will know how to incorporate several pockets with and without zippers to store your items, as well as attach the necessary bag closing hardware. You will be able to choose the right interfacing for the wool fabric to give the bag the ultimate shape. We use patchwork technique to give the bag a beautiful look and one of a kind product.

Who should attend:

You are eager to learn new techniques, share sewing tips and like to interface, have fun and learn from others. The class addresses students with sewing experiences who know how to use tools like Rotary Cutter and are confident using a sewing machine.

What will you bring home:

You can choose a backpack or messenger bag by the size of approx. 11.5” x 10.5”  as your end product.

We will provide you with the pattern so you will be able to replicate this product at home.

Birthdays and Christmas always come to quick, but you will be ready to create this bag as a gift for you or your loved ones.

About the Teacher:

Daniela Magee, interior designer of NY Institute of Art and Design, changed her Career in 2016 from an IT Consultant to a Motel Manager and moved from Germany to the USA after she and her husband bought the Sandy Point Motel in 2012. She has enjoyed sewing, quilting and decoration for over 20 years as a hobby, and since she joined the hospitality business she has put that passion + skill to work furnishing the motel rooms with handmade quilts and stocking the gift shop.  She creates and develops pattern and unique products especially with the goal of up cycling and re-purposing garments.

She teaches her passion of sewing to people in personal classes and is excited to share her pattern and discovery over the bag making with a group of  10-12 people.

Come and join us and bring a friend or your spouse to stay in the beautiful natural environment of the Adirondack Mountains with us.
