Registration is required for this excursion! Call 518-624-3077

This is an updated trip and it’s happening on Tuesday, July 25th.  Trip will be to explore the Sabattis Bog.

7am. Meet at the Geiger Arena.   Bring food, water, a jacket, appropriate attire/hiking shoes, binoculars, hat, sunscreen, and insect spray.

We will be looking for birds in boreal habitat (Canada Jays, Black-backed Woopeckers, and Boreal Chickadees (on Route 30 for that one)) and also in mixed forest habitat in an Important Bird Area (IBA – William C. Whitney Wilderness).  It will be a good mix of birds.  I can even venture to Horseshoe Lake if anyone wants.  Red and White-winged Crossbills have been coming into the area on Sabattis Road and Horseshoe Lake Rd. (they will nest in late summer and again in winter).

Register by calling the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department at 518-624-3077.  This field trip is jointly sponsored by Northern New York Audubon and the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department.  There is a maximum of 15 participants.
