We’ve gotten 4-8 inches of snow in the last two days. Fluffy and light snow.
C7B – Newcomb Trail was opened up on Monday, December 8th. We received 4-6 inches of snow. The trail is open, but not dragged as it’s too early and we need more snowpack. It is still bony in spots, rocks and dirt here and there. This is classic early season riding, but if you’re a diehard, we’ve been out and opened up the Newcomb Trail so far. This stretches from Newcomb to Tarbell Hill Road. If riding to town, please note the spur trail off of Jim Bird has not been groomed yet, expect rough conditions. Roads are not shelved yet, but there are snow banks on the sides.
C7B – Tupper Trail – This trail is being opened and checked on Friday, Dec 12, 2025 from Kickerville out to Sabattis Road. The groomer (without the drag) is going out to make sure all gates are open and trail is rtg. Right now it is ride at your own risk. Please note: There has been road construction on NYS Route 30. The trails are open, but some sections are inaccessible (temporarily) due to some access issues which will be addressed beginning mid-week next week. There will be more road / shoulder riding on some sections of the Tupper Road. Please use EXTRA caution if you are riding this roadside corridor until we can get some of the interior sections opened back up. It’s not a re-route, just some sections on the roadsides aren’t accessible or wide enough for the groomer at this time, so we are working to get that remedied, asap for safe passage.
S80 Power Line Trail – Groomers have opened up all the gates. Trails are open. Early season conditions. Do not expect perfection.
Raquette Lake Trails – C8- Dump Road and Uncas have been navigated by our groomer without a drag – early season conditions. We want to say a big shout out to Wayne for all his years of service. He has retired and now we welcome our new member of the team, who has returned having groomed for us in 2017. So thanks to Ron for coming back.

Just an FYI – Season commenced on Monday, December 8th. We open trails and gates up throughout the first few weeks and we will update you when we get next one open. Just know we’re out on the trails getting them ready to ride. Please be patient.
Raquette Lake Trails – we haven’t groomed yet. Getting organized for the season and should be out by the weekend. Stay Tuned.
Welcome to Long Lake, NY.
It’s December 8, 2025 and it is the first day of the snowmobile season. We actually have SNOW on the ground, light and fluffy and not packed at all… not yet! Day one and week one keeps us busy. Gates are getting open and the groomers take their first run thru their trails to check them for downed trees and various obstacles and start packing. We are lucky to have some good coverage this season, already! It’s a miracle. So stay tuned, we aren’t quite ready for you yet, but check back often and we’ll start getting our trail reports out.
Of important note: There was road construction along the Tupper Road/NYS Route 30 this fall of 2025 and some of our trail access on C7B got blocked inadvertently, but it is on the docket to be corrected asap. Our partners are aware and have designed and engineered the necessary corrections so we can travel along that road-side corridor safely as soon as the corrections are made. So just please be patient while the work gets done as that roadside trail along the Tupper Road will not be accessible until the work is complete which will be soon. We are anticipating work to get started mid-week next week (Dec 17th ish) and be taken care of by Christmas. We know the season is short and we have snow, but just bear with us as we navigate the fix. As soon as our groomers get rideable trails ready to go, they will let us know and I will get it posted here!
Thanks again.

Thank you to our snowmobile partners who help keep our roadways open for snowmobile traffic this season. Special thanks to our highway department for filling in thin spots along area roadways.
Long Lake Highway will be cutting banks Owls Head Lane, Tarbell Hill, Dock Road & Kickerville Road.
Hamilton County Highway crews will be cutting banks on North Point and Sabattis Road and they are doing a great job working with our crew! Thank you.
USE TRAILS NOT LAKES
We do NOT recommend riding on lakes. Our groomed trail system does NOT CROSS LAKES. Lakes are NOT part of our trail system.

Grooming Equipment and Management of Trail Systems:
The Town of Long Lake manages the trails in Long Lake & Raquette Lake.
There are three pisten bully groomers –
2 in Long Lake
1 in Raquette Lake
2 snowmobiles in Raquette Lake with drags
1 snowmobile in Long Lake with a drag –
We move the equipment around depending on conditions. If equipment breaks down and is unavailable to do it’s normal “routine” we will put an alert on our trail conditions page if it impacts our trails. But often times we are able to secure help or use alternative equipment to adjust if things aren’t working
Why are the trails not better marked with signage? If you see a specific area needing signage, please let us know. We can’t fix it if we don’t know. We have two crew in Long Lake and one in Raquette Lake. They are in charge of brushing, grooming, maintaining their trails, but it is always appreciated to have input. Don’t complain, volunteer! We’d love to have you. Please email longlake@mylonglake.com This is a great way to give back to your community and support your local trail system.
The Town of Long Lake works with the Long Lake Highway Department in both Long Lake & Raquette Lake, and our Hamilton County Highway Department to help with all the roadsides and shelfing area roads.
Partnerships with other communities
We also have been rescued in emergencies, by the generosity of Newcomb’s trail groomer. The Town of Newcomb has always helped us out when needed and we appreciate the community shared services in emergencies and we would do the same for them.
The Inlet Barnstormers groom wooded trails around Raquette Lake including the 8th Lake & Bug Lake Trail and the continuation of the 7th Lake Mt. Trail and into the Moose River Plains.
The Beaver River Association grooms for Long Lake on the train tracks from Sabattis south for 12 miles.
Lots of coordination pulls all of this together in the Parks & Rec upstairs office. So there’s that to look after for over 70 miles of trails in our two communities. And grooming operations go on 7 days a week in the winter months.
See map for numbered parking lots.
1. Park on NYS Route 30 Snowmobile Parking Lot. Take NYS Route 30 road side – it’s 4-6 feet wide ice and snow on the road sides.
2. Park your trailer at Lake Eaton Campsite Entrance or in the inside of Lake Eaton (near the boat launch) to hop on a freshly groomed interior wooded trail around Lake Eaton.
3. Park at the Owls Head Trail Head Parking Lot off of Endion Road in Long Lake NY. Follow shoulder / road until you hang a right to access S86 – the backside of Lake Eaton Trail. Take the backside all the way through to the Lake Eaton Campground, loop around. There are two options that take you through the campground and get you turned around and back on the loop to get you back to your car.
4. Park at the NYS Northville Placid Trail Head on NYS Route 28N and Tarbell Hill Road. Access C7B Newcomb Trail here.
5. Park at the NYS Boat Launch off of Dock Road in Long Lake to access spur trail to connect to Jim Bird Road/Tarbell Hill Road and the Newcomb Trail.
6. Park at the bottom lot of Mt. Sabattis and head up past the Ice Skating Rink to access S80 – The Power Line Trail. Ride shoulders on North Point Road and visit Buttermilk Falls. Leave your sleds in the parking area as the small path to the falls – is just that, a foot path. Short hike to catch in the beauty of this scenic treasure.
7. Municipal lot in Long Lake. Free parking at the site of the old Highway Garage on Main St. Long Lake. Stewart’s Shops is the place for Gasoline.
