DESCRIPTION:Registration is required for this excursion! Call 518-624-3077 \nThis is an updated trip and it’s happening on Tuesday\, July 25th.  Trip will be to explore the Sabattis Bog. \n7am. Meet at the Geiger Arena.   Bring food\, water\, a jacket\, appropriate attire/hiking shoes\, binoculars\, hat\, sunscreen\, and insect spray.   \nWe will be looking for birds in boreal habitat (Canada Jays\, Black-backed Woopeckers\, and Boreal Chickadees (on Route 30 for that one)) and also in mixed forest habitat in an Important Bird Area (IBA – William C. Whitney Wilderness).  It will be a good mix of birds.  I can even venture to Horseshoe Lake if anyone wants.  Red and White-winged Crossbills have been coming into the area on Sabattis Road and Horseshoe Lake Rd. (they will nest in late summer and again in winter). \nRegister by calling the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department at 518-624-3077.  This field trip is jointly sponsored by Northern New York Audubon and the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department.  There is a maximum of 15 participants.

DESCRIPTION:Music by the Lake – Gratefully Yours \n6-8pm. Long Lake Town Beach. \n  \nGratefully Yours is a Grateful Dead inspired band\, based out of New Paltz\, NY. The band was conceived and founded in 2012 by keyboardist Alex Mazur\, who is also the founder of The Deadbeats; one of the longest running Grateful Dead cover bands in existence.  \nHowever\, “cover band” is an extremely misleading term when it comes to the music of Gratefully Yours. Their willingness and ability to improvise\, and their openness to spontaneity and the energy of the moment lie at the core of their performances and truly sets them apart. In the very best tradition of The Grateful Dead\, it is this openness that allows the crowd to become a part of the creative process and results in a synergy between the band and the crowd that is unique and truly special. It is that magic that Gratefully Yours truly aims to “cover” and pay tribute to.  \nThey also allow their audience to participate further by giving them the opportunity to submit their dream setlists\, which Gratefully Yours just happen to choose and perform. But of course\, you just never know what might happen… \nThe band members are all long time highly regarded players in the scene: Alex Mazur\, Garrin Benfield\, Jude DeFalco\, Frank Casciaro\, Robert Schiff and Jessica Barlow. And they have some very special guests and friends who have and do sit in with them. After moving to Vail Colorado as a banquet chef\, and 3 years later to the St. Regis in LA\, and finally moving to San Francisco\, Ben and brothers Nate\, Matt and Trip Hosley were ready to open their own place. The group owned and operated two Sauce restaurant locations (earning No. 2 Best New Restaurant in San Francisco) and a nightclub named Shine.
