Long Lake Town Hall.  New York State Parks’ Bureau of Marine Services has over 55 years of experience teaching New Yorkers to operate their boats safely. In the last 15 years\, through State Parks network of certified instructors\, we have taught more than 300\,000 people.  \nThe in-classroom course option is designed as a comprehensive study of boating safety to teach the fundamentals of safe boating operation. The course requires a structured classroom setting and has been approved by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). Sponsored by the Long Lake Association \n\nCancellation Policies\nYou must cancel your registration before Friday\, June 27\, 2025\, at 8:00am CDT. \nIf you are no longer planning on attending this class\, please cancel your registration so that those on the waiting list will have a chance to attend. \n\n\nAge Policy\nAll registrants for this event must be 10 years of age by June 28\, 2025.Student must be 10 years old at the start of the course. \nIf you are 18 years of age or older\, there is a $10.00 fee for your permanent boating safety certificate\, payable to New York State Parks. This is in addition to any course fees paid directly to your instructor. NYS Parks does not collect a certificate fee for students under the age of 18\, but there may be a course fee charged by the instructor. \n\n  \nMotorboats\nBrianna’s Law\nIf you were born on or after May 1\, 1996 you will need a boating safety certificate.\nUnder a new law known as Brianna’s Law\, all motor boat operators born on or after Jan. 1\, 1993 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2020.\nThose born on or after Jan. 1\, 1988 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2022.\nThose born on or after Jan. 1\, 1983 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2023.\nThose born on or after Jan. 1\, 1978 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2024.\nAll motor boat operators regardless of age will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2025.\nApproved courses include those offered by NYS Parks\, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary\, the U.S. Power Squadrons or U.S.Powerboating. Certain allowances to this law have been made for visitors to New York\, persons renting a boat from a livery and persons purchasing a new boat for the first time.
