DESCRIPTION:Friends of Music present Martha Gallagher in Concert at 7:30pm \nLong Lake Calvary United Methodist Church \n  \nMartha Gallagher has been sharing her distinctive and richly varied performances with audiences for over 30 years. She has a diverse musical background; from classical flautist in a symphony orchestra to lead singer in rock and jazz/blues bands. Martha has performed with such luminaries as six-time Grammy winners\, The Chieftains. The 2007 premiere of her innovative original work featuring Celtic harp\, voice\, and taiko drums marked a world’s first of this performance configuration. \nIn 2015 the Lake Placid Sinfionetta premiered Martha’s “The Orphan’s Odysee“. A symphonic peice wriitten specifically for lever harp & orchestra celebrating Martha’s Orphan Harp. \nMartha’s extensive solo tours have taken her around the US and into Canada\, with several tours sponsored by The National Endowment for the Arts. She has been featured on numerous television and radio programs; appearances include BBC Television\, Northeast Public Radio\, North Country Public Radio and Good Morning Arizona. \nMartha has been a guest artist/clinician at The Berklee College of Music and The Boston Conservatory. She has been a featured guest performer and workshop presenter at national harp conferences and festivals\, including The American Harp Society National Conference\, The Somerset Harp Festival\, Northern Lights Harp Festival\, The Big Sky Harp Festival\, The Southeastern Harp Weekend\, HarpCon and The Glengarry Highland Games. Several of her articles have been published in both The American Harp Journal and the Folk Harp Journal. \nMartha has delved into working with a variety of ensembles\, arranging and performing many of her original works with symphonies\, vocal ensembles\, hand bell ensembles\, and other groups. She has produced and recorded 7 CDs of primarily original music on her independent label\, Singing Strings. \nMartha’s theatre training and creative movement work includes intensive studies with Shakespeare and Co. and The Celebration Barn Theatre. An actress\, storyteller and poet\, her live performances go “beyond concert” and into the realm of a one-woman show.

Please arrive at the Town Dock by 5:30 PM\, as boarding is first-come\, first-served. Whitney Wilderness Area north of the Town of Long Lake.  Meet at the Long Lake Town Beach by the bridge over the lake at 6:30 a.m.  We will make a few birding stops in boreal habitat along Route 30 before heading to the William C. Whitney Wilderness Area\, along Sabattis Circle Road.  Eighteen warbler species breed along this road including Northern Waterthrush\, Mourning\, Palm\, and Canada Warblers.  Many boreal species can be found along Sabattis Circle Road including\, Black-backed Woodpecker\, Olive-sided and Yellow- bellied Flycatchers\, Canada Jay\, and Lincoln’s Sparrow.  Little Tupper Lake and Sabattis Bog are within the William C. Please arrive at the Town Dock by 5:30 PM\, as boarding is first-come\, first-served. DESCRIPTION:6-8pm. Long Lake Town Beach. \nGratefully Yours is a Grateful Dead inspired band\, based out of New Paltz\, NY. The band was conceived and founded in 2012 by keyboardist Alex Mazur\, who is also the founder of The Deadbeats; one of the longest running Grateful Dead cover bands in existence. \nHowever\, “cover band” is an extremely misleading term when it comes to the music of Gratefully Yours. Their willingness and ability to improvise\, and their openness to spontaneity and the energy of the moment lie at the core of their performances and truly sets them apart. In the very best tradition of The Grateful Dead\, it is this openness that allows the crowd to become a part of the creative process and results in a synergy between the band and the crowd that is unique and truly special. It is that magic that Gratefully Yours truly aims to “cover” and pay tribute to. \nThey also allow their audience to participate further by giving them the opportunity to submit their dream setlists\, which Gratefully Yours just happen to choose and perform. But of course\, you just never know what might happen… \nThe band members are all long time highly regarded players in the scene: Alex Mazur\, Garrin Benfield\, Jude DeFalco\, Frank Casciaro\, Robert Schiff and Jessica Barlow. And they have some very special guests and friends who have and do sit in with them.
