DESCRIPTION:Rt. 30 & Sabattis Circle Road Birding Hike with Joan Collins \nJoin Joan Collins on this exciting birding trip into the William C. Whitney Wilderness Area north of the Town of Long Lake.  Meet at the Long Lake Town Beach by the bridge over the lake at 6:30 a.m.  We will make a few birding stops in boreal habitat along Route 30 before heading to the William C. Whitney Wilderness Area\, along Sabattis Circle Road.  Eighteen warbler species breed along this road including Northern Waterthrush\, Mourning\, Palm\, and Canada Warblers.  Many boreal species can be found along Sabattis Circle Road including\, Black-backed Woodpecker\, Olive-sided and Yellow- bellied Flycatchers\, Canada Jay\, and Lincoln’s Sparrow.  Little Tupper Lake and Sabattis Bog are within the William C. Whitney Wilderness Area\, a designated Important Birding Area (IBA) by Audubon New York. \nTo register\, contact Joan at JoanCollins@ADKAvian.com or 518-624-5528.  This field trip is jointly sponsored by Northern New York Audubon and the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department.  There is a maximum of 15 participants.

The band has been taking their fans back to simpler musical times for over 30 years and selectively performs on only six occasions each year. We’re so humbled that they will be playing for us! They’re certain to have you swaying to the music\, with covers of some of the most beloved music from the ’60s and ’70s. \n  \nWe are pleased to once again offer public transportation from the Raquette Lake Town Dock to St. William’s on Long Point for our programs this year! \n🛶 Transportation Details:Thanks to Raquette Lake Camps for supplying the barge and to Captain Michael Bartow for piloting. Please arrive at the Town Dock by 5:30 PM\, as boarding is first-come\, first-served. The boat will depart promptly at 6:00 PM. \n⛪ Program Location & Times: \n\n\nConcerts take place at St. William’s on Long Point\, an historic 1890 church building accessible by boat. \n\n\nConcert Start Time: 6:30 PM \n\n\nDuration: Approximately one hour \n\n\nYou are welcome to enjoy the concert from your own boat\, dock at the church\, or sit on the lawn with your blanket or chairs. \n\n\n🥧 Special Note:Each Thursday\, we will raffle off homemade pies by our local baker. DESCRIPTION:6-8pm. Long Lake Town Beach. \nGratefully Yours is a Grateful Dead inspired band\, based out of New Paltz\, NY. The band was conceived and founded in 2012 by keyboardist Alex Mazur\, who is also the founder of The Deadbeats; one of the longest running Grateful Dead cover bands in existence. \nHowever\, “cover band” is an extremely misleading term when it comes to the music of Gratefully Yours. Their willingness and ability to improvise\, and their openness to spontaneity and the energy of the moment lie at the core of their performances and truly sets them apart. In the very best tradition of The Grateful Dead\, it is this openness that allows the crowd to become a part of the creative process and results in a synergy between the band and the crowd that is unique and truly special. It is that magic that Gratefully Yours truly aims to “cover” and pay tribute to. \nThey also allow their audience to participate further by giving them the opportunity to submit their dream setlists\, which Gratefully Yours just happen to choose and perform. But of course\, you just never know what might happen… \nThe band members are all long time highly regarded players in the scene: Alex Mazur\, Garrin Benfield\, Jude DeFalco\, Frank Casciaro\, Robert Schiff and Jessica Barlow. And they have some very special guests and friends who have and do sit in with them. The brief ceremony will include a bit of U.S. flag history\, courtesies\, and military flag order of precedence. \nThe Post honors the service and sacrifices of members of the U.S. Army\, Marine Corps\, Navy\, Air Force\, Space Force\, Coast Guard\, and Merchant Marines\, by flying their service flags at Legion Square. In addition\, they display the POW/MIA flag. \nAfter the flag raising in front of the Town Hall\, the Post will perform their annual retired American flag disposal ceremony at 10:30am at Fern Park in Inlet. \nAt 1:00pm\, the Post will commemorate a new banner display at the Raquette Lake Veterans Memorial\, in front of the Raquette Lake Library. The display honors the Post’s namesake members: Philo E. Leonard\, Vincent J. Mick\, and Charles E. Roberts Jr.\, local youths who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms during World War Two.
