DESCRIPTION:On August 21st\, we welcome the classical music trio of Colalillo\, Foley\, & Foley to Long Point! The acoustics of St. William’s are sure to take their exceptional talents on the piano\, violin\, and cello to new heights. You may hear pieces from Brahms and more. With experience ranging from gracing the hallowed Carnegie Hall to our very own Long Point\, we can only imagine the warm\, expressive\, and resonant sounds of classical favorites\, softly echoing throughout the lake. As always\, in case of rain\, the show will go on at the Raquette Lake Chapel\, just up the hillside from the W.W. Durant. \n  \n   \n  \nWe are pleased to once again have public transportation from the town dock to St. William’s for our programs this year! Our thanks to Raquette Lake Camps for supplying the barge\, and to Michael Bartow\, who will be our captain. Be at the dock by 5:30 pm\, as it is first-come\, first-served. The boat will leave at 6 pm. Please check our website or Facebook for further information. If you have a boat on Raquette Lake\, you may also enjoy the concert from the comfort of your boat. You can also dock at the church or sit on the lawn with your blanket or chairs. The concert will start at 6:30 pm and run for about an hour. And don’t forget\, each Thursday we’ll have pies to raffle\, made by our local baker! Don’t miss the delicious! As always\,  in case of rain\, the show will go on at the Raquette Lake School\, located at 115 NY-28\, or the Raquette Lake Chapel (August 21st only)\, just up the hillside from the W.W. Durant. \n\nThese programs are made possible with funds from the statewide Community Regrants Program\, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts. \n\nThe historic 1890 St. William’s church building is open from Memorial Day to early September. Remember\, we are a boat access location only\, and you can put in at the village dock right between Raquette Lake Supply and the W.W. Durant. Peggy’s original songwriting is deeply rooted in the Adirondack region\, often focused on history\, women\, and the natural beauty of our beloved park. She has released several albums\, including Adirondack Woman and Cloudsplitter. Dan is a nationally touring performer who is quickly being recognized as one of the most skilled hammered dulcimer players in the country! This ancient percussion-string instrument produces a uniquely shimmery\, ethereal\, and resonant sound. Dan has also released several albums\, including three traditional Christmas compilations. \n  \nWe are pleased to once again offer public transportation from the Raquette Lake Town Dock to St. William’s on Long Point for our programs this year! \n🛶 Transportation Details:Thanks to Raquette Lake Camps for supplying the barge and to Captain Michael Bartow for piloting. Please arrive at the Town Dock by 5:30 PM\, as boarding is first-come\, first-served. SUMMARY:Roosevelt Truck Trail Hike - Joan Collins
DESCRIPTION:Roosevelt Truck Trail Hike with Joan Collins \nLovely\, mature boreal habitat spans the 2.5-mile-long Roosevelt Truck Trail.  Joan Collins will lead a hike along this route beginning at the Blue Ridge Road trailhead and ending at the Route 28N trailhead.  The habitat along the route provides a year-round home to many boreal bird species including Black-backed Woodpecker\, Canada Jay\, and Boreal Chickadee.  Meet at the Geiger Arena parking area in Long Lake at 6:30 a.m. for transportation to the trailhead on Long Lake’s “Little Bus”!  To register\, contact Joan at JoanCollins@ADKAvian.com or 518-624-5528.  This field trip is jointly sponsored by Northern New York Audubon and the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department.  There is a maximum of 15 participants.

DESCRIPTION:NYS Boaters Safety Course \n8am-4pm. Long Lake Town Hall.  New York State Parks’ Bureau of Marine Services has over 55 years of experience teaching New Yorkers to operate their boats safely. In the last 15 years\, through State Parks network of certified instructors\, we have taught more than 300\,000 people.  \nThe in-classroom course option is designed as a comprehensive study of boating safety to teach the fundamentals of safe boating operation. The course requires a structured classroom setting and has been approved by the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). Sponsored by the Long Lake Association \n\nCancellation Policies\nYou must cancel your registration before Friday\, June 27\, 2025\, at 8:00am CDT. \nIf you are no longer planning on attending this class\, please cancel your registration so that those on the waiting list will have a chance to attend. \n\n\nAge Policy\nAll registrants for this event must be 10 years of age by June 28\, 2025.Student must be 10 years old at the start of the course. \nIf you are 18 years of age or older\, there is a $10.00 fee for your permanent boating safety certificate\, payable to New York State Parks. This is in addition to any course fees paid directly to your instructor. NYS Parks does not collect a certificate fee for students under the age of 18\, but there may be a course fee charged by the instructor. \n\n  \nMotorboats\nBrianna’s Law\nIf you were born on or after May 1\, 1996 you will need a boating safety certificate.\nUnder a new law known as Brianna’s Law\, all motor boat operators born on or after Jan. 1\, 1993 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2020.\nThose born on or after Jan. 1\, 1988 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2022.\nThose born on or after Jan. 1\, 1983 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2023.\nThose born on or after Jan. 1\, 1978 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2024.\nAll motor boat operators regardless of age will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2025.\nApproved courses include those offered by NYS Parks\, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary\, the U.S. Power Squadrons or U.S.Powerboating. Certain allowances to this law have been made for visitors to New York\, persons renting a boat from a livery and persons purchasing a new boat for the first time.
