Free and open to all ages. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 10:00 AM July 4th Games are a fun\, family-friendly tradition held on the athletic fields in Long Lake. \nWe kick things off at 10:00 AM with a scavenger hunt for children ages 5 and under\, followed by a variety of classic field games for children ages 6 and up. Depending on participation\, events may include three-legged races\, sack races\, crab walks\, relay races\, and other traditional July 4th games. We wrap up the morning with everyone’s favorite—the Egg Toss! \nYes\, there are prizes! The top finishers in each event receive prize tickets that can be redeemed at our prize booth for a selection of fun\, Fourth of July-themed prizes. \nIt’s a casual\, free event where families are welcome to participate\, cheer from the sidelines\, or simply enjoy the morning. Feel free to bring lawn chairs\, and we’ll usually wrap up around Noon. \nParking is available at 1179 Main Street\, and the athletic fields are located right next door. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n12pm Beach -The annual Fourth of July Celebration begins at the Town Beach\, sponsored by the Town of Long Lake. DESCRIPTION: The beds are BACK. \nAfter a 10-year hiatus\, Long Lake’s legendary Bed Races return for the 250th Anniversary of the United States—and we’re bringing the competition\, speed\, and chaos back to Main Street. \nA staple on and off since the 1980s\, the Bed Races are making their long-awaited comeback in 2026 with fresh energy and a whole lot of anticipation. Whether you’re in it to win it or just in it to survive the ride\, now’s the time to rally your crew and start building. Teams will race custom-built\, non-motorized beds down a fast\, downhill 0.2-mile course from the Bridge to the Beach\, with spectators lining the route. \nDust off the wheels. Reinforce the frame. Pick your rider wisely. \nParticipants may be under 18* but only with authorized parental or guardian consent. Riders must wear helmets.  Teams must have a MINIMUM of 3 adults over 18 participating. \n  \nLONG LAKE BED RACE ENTRY and WAIVER \n \n\n Bed Race Update – Please Read!\nCalling all Bed Race participants (and anyone still thinking about racing)!\n\n\n Important Update: All beds and teams must report to the Bed Race Holding Pen by 4:15 PM on Saturday\, July 4. DESCRIPTION:July 21st\, 2026 \nJoan Collins Birding Hike – Rt. 30 & Sabattis Circle Road \n6:30am. Join Joan Collins on this exciting birding trip into the William C. Whitney Wilderness Area\, a designated Important Birding Area (IBA) by Audubon New York. Eighteen warbler species – including Northern Waterthrush\, Mourning\, Palm\, and Canada Warblers – breed along Sabattis Circle Road. Many boreal species such as the Black-Backed Woodpecker\, Olive-Sided and Yellow-Bellied Flycatcher\, Canada Jay\, and Lincoln’s Sparrow can also be found there. Boreal Chickadees may be sighted along Route 30. \nMeet at the Long Lake Town Beach by the bridge at 6:30am and park parallel to the road. There are restrooms available by the beach. We will make a few birding stops in boreal habitat along Route 30 before heading to the Whitney Wilderness. Along Sabattis Circle Road we will make stops at several locations\, including the trailhead for Buck Mountain (where there is a port-a-potty)\, the scenic inlet of Little Tupper Lake\, the Round Lake Trailhead\, and Sabattis Bog. If we have time\, we can bring lunch to the Tupper Lake Marsh viewing deck and keep an eye out for the breeding Sandhill Cranes and other marsh birds. Bring insect repellant\, hat\, sunscreen\, water\, lunch\, binoculars and appropriate clothing/jacket and footwear. To register\, contact Joan at JoanCollins@ADKAvian.com or 315-244-7127. This field trip is jointly sponsored by Northern New York Audubon and the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department. There is a maximum of 15 participants.
