SUMMARY:Bruce Matthews at St. Williams
DESCRIPTION:August 14th\, we’ll be treated to Bruce Matthews and his self-termed “front porch music”. Matthews is a roots musician\, someone who can transport listeners with inspired\, true-to-heart lyrics that put a shine on life where you may not have been able to see one. At the same time\, he isn’t afraid to get deeply personal and willingly shares his ups\, as well as the downs\, with his audience. Americana music has always had a strong connection to storytelling\, a means to give a listener a more raw\, emotional delivery\, overlaid with the sounds of rustic guitar and banjo\, among other things. And Bruce Matthews is a master of his Americana craft\, reminding us that it’s the journey in life that truly matters! \nWe are pleased to once again offer public transportation from the Raquette Lake Town Dock to St. William’s on Long Point for our programs this year! \n🛶 Transportation Details:Thanks to Raquette Lake Camps for supplying the barge and to Captain Michael Bartow for piloting. Please arrive at the Town Dock by 5:30 PM\, as boarding is first-come\, first-served. The boat will depart promptly at 6:00 PM. \n⛪ Program Location & Times: \n\nConcerts take place at St. William’s on Long Point\, an historic 1890 church building accessible by boat.\nConcert Start Time:6:30 PM\nDuration:Approximately one hour\nYou are welcome to enjoy the concert from your own boat\, dock at the church\, or sit on the lawn with your blanket or chairs.\n\n🥧 Special Note:Each Thursday\, we will raffle off homemade pies by our local baker. Don’t miss this delicious opportunity! \n🌧️ Rain Location:In case of rain\, programs will be held at: \n\nRaquette Lake School(115 NY-28) on July 17\nRaquette Lake Chapel(just up the hillside from the W.W. Durant) on July 10\, 24\, and 31\n\n🎭 Grant Information:These programs are made possible with funds from the statewide Community Regrants Program\, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature\, administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts. \n🔔 About St. William’s:The historic St. William’s Church is open from Memorial Day to early September.
